Rodarte for Target’s Go International

Design duo and sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte will follow Tracy Feith as part of Target’s Go International program. The Go International program provides a platform for emerging designers to showcase their work to a much broader audience enabling them to gain new followers. The Limited Edition collection will be available at Target and Target.com for 45 days Dec. 20th through Feb. 6; the line is inclusive of 55 items. For those not familiar with Rodarte’s work, it can be challenging to reproduce on such a mass scale due to the hand-made-like-construction nature of their garments but Target addressed it with ease. “What you’ll notice is an amazing eye for detail,” said Joshua Thomas, a Target spokesman. “It’s very feminine, yet very modern. The Collection incorporates a rich mix of patterns and fabrications and everything from sequins and bows to faux fur. The key with Rodarte is layering.”

Just in time for the Season 2 premier of The Rachel Zoe Project comes RachelZoe.com. My favorite west coast fur loving I die stylist will unleash her fashion knowledge to a select few subscribers. After launching her twitter page Rachel became aware of the impact of social media and is now obsessed with it. The site will not only offer styling tips but fashion must have/buy list(s) and a forum where she will provide answers to subscriber questions. The Season 2 of the Rachel Zoe Project Premiers August 25th on Bravo.

Lindsay’s on the set….Hide the Jewels

While on a photoshoot for British Elle $41,000 worth of jewelry went missing. Now I’m not pointing any fingers but I will point an elbow at Lindsay Lohan, not to say she’s a thief but her behavior as of late has been shifty. Although Elle released a statement saying that they did not believe that Lindsay was “ in any way responsible”, I’d still like to check her apartment.

Lacroix Submits Joint Offer, Meets With French Ministers

Christian Laroix has had some very emotional ups and downs in the search to find an investor to same his namesake label. After a series of disappointing bids, he recently received a promising proposition from Italy’s Italy’s Borletti Group, which has stakes in both La Rinascente and Printemps department stores. The Borletti group, according to Lacroix administrator Regis Valliot, had made a “serious” offer as of Monday for Christian Lacroix SNC and if successful, the proposal would keep the couture and the licensing business, but also would further develop Lacroix’s dreams of a luxury ready-to-wear line and a new fragrance, to follow the now defunct C’est la Vie. “The brand doesn’t yet have the perfume it deserves,” he said.

Swinging Spice: Posh swings in style

Proving her Posh pout never budges, Victoria Beckham took time out from a photoshoot to serenely sit on a swing, but while most of us would at least crack a grin, she kept that signature stony look in place. The fashionista spent the day art directing a fashion shoot for her autumn/winter ’09 dress collection in West London’s Notting Hill. Clad in her elegant frocks, a group of models posed aboard matching swings hung from the porches in a crescent of townhouses.

Esteban Cortazar and Ungaro Part Ways

EMANUEL UNGARO really is parting ways with its head of design, Esteban Cortazar, it was reported today.
Following a lengthy period of less than emphatic denials and weak shows of unity between Ungaro and the label’s ceo, Mounir Moufarrige, the decision has been taken to dissolve the relationship, WWD reports. It is expected to be formerly announced later today that the separation is by mutual agreement.

Cortazar, who was just 23 when he arrived at Ungaro, received mixed reviews for his three collections for the label and has recently refused to dismiss rumours of a rift with management.
