What I love most about Fashion is not only the designs but the endless amount of creativity. Case in point the Jean Charles De Castelbajac Spring/Summer 09 Collection. Forgoing a typical runway show with real life models the Collection was presented via an animated Lego Fashion Show. The presentation is not only adorable but extremely creative.

To pay homage to the late designer/artist Stephen Sprouse, Louis Vuitton Creative Director Marc Jacobs is reinventing his graffiti collection from 2001. The new Stephen Sprouse Limited Edition Collection for Louis Vuitton will feature Ready to Wear and Accessories. Stephen Sprouse’s graffiti and rose motifs will be interpreted on the Neverfull, Speedy and Keepall collection of bags, as well as shoes, leggings, sunglasses, coats, and small leather goods. The collection will hit stores January 9th to coincide with the “Rock on Mars” retrospective at Deitch Projects and “The Stephen Sprouse Book” by Roger Padilha and Mauricio Padilha.

As you may be aware of Anna Wintour’s contract at Vogue is due to expire at the end of the year. Now rumor has it that she could be possibly replaced by French Vogue Editor Carine Roitfeld. This scene is straight out of The Devil Wears Prada. Now i just hope that Andrea got to her soon enough to warn her. Oh say it ain’t so. Anna no longer at Vogue? She’s been there for 20 years, I know she’s made some bad decisions but her better ones are what kept the magazine alive and thriving.
This economy is not on her side either as ads sales are dropping and her salary of $2,000,000 a year has become a burden on Conde Nast. …Click to continue reading | Is Carine Roitfeld Replacing Anna Wintour?
Helm: a position of control (Head)
Anna Wintour has been at the helm of Vogue for over two decades.
Ikea please make room for H & M as it is entering the Home Décor business. The collection is set to launch February 2009 with a series of bold prints. The collection includes pillows, showers curtains, and towels. Sad to say H & M hasn’t release the US launch date as of yet. My friends in Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Germany and Austria are schedule to receive the collection first. I love this small push towards home for H & M but they should thread lightly specially in this economy. Now my question is are you ready for H & M home?

I’ve been excited before about H & M collaborations but this one has me on the edge of my seat. H & M has announced that Matthew Williamson will be the next designer to join their list of collaborators. For the first time ever Matthew Williamson will be designing menswear in addition to womens wear. The line is set to debut in April 09 with womens wear and mid-May with men’s and more women’s pieces.
“It is an incredible opportunity to be working with H&M, creating a ‘Matthew Williamson for H&M’ capsule collection. …Click to continue reading | Matthew Williamson for H & M S/S 09
There’s always something special about a collaboration because it brings about the best of both collaborators. In some instances the collaboration is to target a new customer in others it is to bring a new take to a product. Whether you favor them or not collaborations are big for both parties involved as well as the end user. For the artist(s) their work gets presented to a whole new audience and for the consumer they are seeing something new and fresh that is sometimes more affordable. In the past few years’ collaborations have gained momentum and has introduced a wide variety of artist, designers, and stores to a broader audience.

I was at Borders recently searching for paper and stumbled upon Influence by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover but this book really sold me on the cover or covers alone. Influence has two covers one with Mary Kate Olsen and one with Ashley Olsen, side by side on the shelf they face each other. After I left Borders I immediately started going off about the book, how amazing and artistic the covers are, and how how I really want the book. Cut to a week later at my birthday dinner when Sam presented me with the book. After screaming like a little girl I started flipping through the book to find out what it was really about.

Haute Couture: French meaning “high sewing” or “high dressmaking”. A Haute Couture garment is one that is entirely made by hand with the most luxurious fabrics, construction details, and embellishments such as beading and lace. To achieve Haute Couture multiple fittings are required. It is a very time consuming process that is handled by highly skilled workers.
In France only companies that meet the strict requirement set by La Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture (which is the French fashion governing body) are allowed to use the term Haute Couture. To earn the right to use the term one must: …Click to continue reading | Haute Couture: Tailored Perfection
