For the first time in the history of the Go Red for Women a campaign by the American Heart Association showed during Funkshion Fashion Week Miami Beach. For the past five seasons a long list of designers such as Mar Jacobs, Michael Kors, Oscar de la Renta, and Donna Karen have participated in the event. Day two can only be describe as amazingly busy. I always seem to think that everything takes 15 minutes and they usually end up taking an hour. When I woke up my schedule had 3 appointments and 1 task, by the end of the day it was more like 6 appointments and 20 tasks. Reese came over in the am so we could get an early start and that so didn’t happen. We started chatting, lost track of time and ended up watching Fashion TV as I made pot stickers. Two hours later we finally left the apartment in search of a shoe store, after walking aimlessly on Collins Ave then Washington Ave we stumbled on Soles Inc(not the right store) . Soles Inc is a great little sneaker boutique hidden on 12^th street between Washington and Collins. I got the cutest grey T-shirt there with purple graphics on one side. Last night Susan Fixel presented her swimwear collection Bejeweled Swim during Funkshion: Fashion Week Miami Beach. Bejeweled Swim is a swimwear collection that is bringing glitz back to the pool or the beaches of Cannes. If you own a lot of basic swimwear than a suit from Bejeweled Swim will make the perfect addition to your collection. Susan’s collection takes the basic suit and enhances with lots of details from prints to beading and crystals. Some stand out pieces were a black Bejeweled logo tank top with a skull encrusted with Swarovski crystals in gold, a white sweater with a tattoo print and an overlay of crystals and my favorite for the summer a plunging halter maillot with key hole accent and chunky Swaroksi crystals hanging as charms. This collection is perfect for the girl who is always in need of more glitz as well the girl who needs to add more glitz.

It’s all started on 9/30, I woke up feeling like Star Jones after a burrito, and I can’t give you details but let’s just say I felt stuffed. It wasn’t until 6 or 7pm I started feeling better. So I’m packing (throwing stuff in my suitcase and hoping it all fits) and Sam’s taking a nap (he’s so cute when he sleeps). By 9pm I was on my way to the airport making a pit stop at Wendy’s (I know but I had to keep reading). Usually I’m all concerned about airport security but last night all I wanted was some Dramamine, think Amy Whinehouse when she doesn’t have her stuff. For the past four seasons I’ve been a permanent fixture at Funkshion: Fashion Week Miami Beach. So I can’t begin to tell you how thrilled I am to take my seat front row next Tuesday where I will be bringing you up to the minute coverage of all the shows. This season also brings some changes such as venue and the inclusion of the COAST Trade Show. Funkshion: Fashion Week Miami Beach will be held at the Miami Botanical Garden on convention center drive instead of last years Lummus Park. Also this year the Go Red for Women show is being presented at the tents on October 2nd.

The Go Red for Women show is a charity fashion show where major celebrities and socialites are used as models and wear red custom designer dresses to benefit Go Red for Women a campaign from the American Heart Association. Designers in the past include Marc Jacobs, Donna Karen, Catherine Malendrino, Michael Kors, Max Azria Atelier and numerous others. Each dress will be auctioned off where 100% of the proceeds will benefit the Go Red for women movement.

The second day of shows I flew in from Los Angeles to Miami jet lagged and not feeling well, something about flying commercial from the West Coast to the East Coast always makes me nauseous. Since I took the Red Eye I missed day one, besides it was only one show.

Day 2:

My hair was too long and I didn’t have time to trim it so I pulled it together with some Skinny jeans, a hooded chunky knit sweater to hide my fro and my shoe of choice for last season, the Atlantic City pumps. The Atlantic City pump is a 5inch stiletto with a built in platform.
