She totally stole this pose from me, but I’m OK with it since I love her. Besides I tried that same swimsuit on and I looked fat in it. Viva Natasha Poly!!!

Natasha Poly for Gucci Spring/Summer 2010
The Time: A few decades ago
The Place: Via Condotti, Rome
The Subject: Me, in Europe for the first time, searching for the quintessential Italian souvenir
Lack of funds did not prevent me from purchasing not one but two keepsakes at Gucci on that long-lost afternoon at Gucci, where the hushed atmosphere, the thick carpets, the glittery showcases contrasted so starkly with my college-girl attire. Nevertheless, I bought what I considered at the time to be the epitome of Italian chic: a silk Flora foulard and a little sterling silver–and–enamel ring in the shape of a dragon. This was all years ago, in shouting distance of the seventies, when Gucci was the standard-bearer of la dolce vita, that glamorous era before cappuccinos began showing up on every corner from Tulsa and Tacoma.

Lately I’ve found myself consumed with the idea of Skiing. Those who know me personally will agree when I say that I am a couch potato, I detest the cold more than I detest crocs and capris, and the only sport like activity besides bargain shopping in my life is Tennis (which I’m not very good at). Let me make my defense; first and foremost Skiing is beyond chic, the skis and poles and just as thin as Alek Wek’s legs, and Après-ski activities are always fabulous. Enough blabbing and on to the good stuff, Gucci Ski Goggles. In looking for Ski Equipment I begin to look for the basics ie. Helmet, Poles, Goggles etc.. I came across some amazing goggles but they were espensive (not expensive but espensive don’t forget the spanish accent). So I thought well if regular Ski Goggles cost over $300 what about designer Goggles? I searched for Dior ones and nothing, Fendi found 1 pair in brown for $179, Chanel over $400 uber chic but way out of the price range, and last but not least Gucci $195 and flawless. The Gucci Goggles aren’t just for looks as they provide excellent protection on the slopes with their Anti-Fogging abilities. Although not available in Stores as of (12/16) they are available online via Gucci.com
Sneaker Addict, Music Producer and DJ Mark Ronson has collaborated with Gucci’s Creative Director Frida Giannini on ‘Gucci Icon Temporary’. A pop-up sneaker store that will travel the world. The shop will feature 18 limited edition sneakers, 16 of which are men’s and two pairs are women’s. The bulk of the merchandise was designed by Giannini with the Gucci DNA in mind to feature the logo and green stripe. Ronson designed a pair of unisex kicks for each city. ‘I spent many, many years as an avid sneaker collector, so I wanted to make sure these Gucci shoes were truly special from an aesthetic and collectible point of view’, Ronson told WWD. Gucci Icon Temporary launches in SoHo New York in October. It will continue on to London, Paris, Berlin and Tokyo. The pop-up shop will remain open for two weeks before moving to the next city.
I honestly will flat out come out and say that I have a shoe fetish. Not the odd kind where I want to mount the shoe but the feeling that I get when I slip on that pair of stiletto, or ankle boot. There is something about shoes that changes everything, it makes you happy, changes your posture, enhances your calves, makes you look taller I mean I can go on. My two main reasons for loving shoes are the height and the statement. Shoes make more of a statement than clothes sometimes. If you live in off the rack clothing like 99% of us then you can agree when I say the right shoes can make or break a look. I don’t spend very much on clothing so I can splurge on shoes and accessories. My main shoe collection consists of pumps, black pumps to be exact.
If you saw my closet 3 months ago you’d swear I was an administrative assistant from left to right in one line were all black pumps. Its not that I didn’t like other shoes, it was just my preference and what I could find that worked for me. Plus black is slimming and I wear a size 10 so anything that I can do to minimize the size of my canoes is usually taken into serious consideration i.e. not wearing cut outs or peep toes. …Click to continue reading | 10 Must Have Shoes For Fall 08
