Since the announcement was made on Thursday, there has been much discussion over Christian Lacroix filing for bankruptcy. “The French couturier whose artistic and exuberant pouf dresses propelled him to fame in the 1980s became the latest victim of the global financial crisis…” wrote Suzy Menkes in The New York Times. THE new magazine on the Hamptons block claims it’s being bullied by 6-year-old competitor Social Life, although Social Life denies it had anything to do with sabotaging the upstart. Hamptonite — which is modeled after long-established Hamptons magazine and will, like Social Life, publish six times over the summer — launched its inaugural issue over the Memorial Day weekend. First the Spanish brand nabs Daisy Lowe and now they’ve signed Scarlett Johansson for the Autumn/Winter 09 campaign. Fresh from her adverts for Dolce & Gabbana where she posed as a modern Marilyn, she is now looking grungier but of course still super sexy.
