Is Carine Roitfeld Replacing Anna Wintour?
by JetSetJunior Posted in Anna Wintour, Fashion Biz
As you may be aware of Anna Wintour’s contract at Vogue is due to expire at the end of the year. Now rumor has it that she could be possibly replaced by French Vogue Editor Carine Roitfeld. This scene is straight out of The Devil Wears Prada. Now i just hope that Andrea got to her soon enough to warn her. Oh say it ain’t so. Anna no longer at Vogue? She’s been there for 20 years, I know she’s made some bad decisions but her better ones are what kept the magazine alive and thriving.
This economy is not on her side either as ads sales are dropping and her salary of $2,000,000 a year has become a burden on Conde Nast. As for Carine I know she will bring in a new take on the magazine but is she ready to produce such a big book? You see US Vogue’s distributorship is almost two million compared to French Vogues modest 300,000. Also French Vogue pushes boundaries and is very risque, Carine won’t have that same freedom here thanks to the FCC. Thats if the rumors were true anyways, according to Conde Nast Chairman SI Newhouse “There’s no truth to it,” and “This is the silliest rumor I ever heard”. So there you have it folks the rumors are put to rest. Now we can all go back to a world full of Fendi and all things Chanel edited by our favorite editor Anna Wintour..
