I honestly will flat out come out and say that I have a shoe fetish. Not the odd kind where I want to mount the shoe but the feeling that I get when I slip on that pair of stiletto, or ankle boot. There is something about shoes that changes everything, it makes you happy, changes your posture, enhances your calves, makes you look taller I mean I can go on. My two main reasons for loving shoes are the height and the statement. Shoes make more of a statement than clothes sometimes. If you live in off the rack clothing like 99% of us then you can agree when I say the right shoes can make or break a look. I don’t spend very much on clothing so I can splurge on shoes and accessories. My main shoe collection consists of pumps, black pumps to be exact.
If you saw my closet 3 months ago you’d swear I was an administrative assistant from left to right in one line were all black pumps. Its not that I didn’t like other shoes, it was just my preference and what I could find that worked for me. Plus black is slimming and I wear a size 10 so anything that I can do to minimize the size of my canoes is usually taken into serious consideration i.e. not wearing cut outs or peep toes. My main deal breaker for buying a shoe is major feet visibility; if my toenails are visible or the side of my foot is hanging ten then the shoe is not for me. I guess the Fall is the perfect time for me to shop for shoes as all the new pumps, boots, and closed toe shoes come out. This season I have started my shoe binge and I have five more pairs to go. I’ve gotten all of my pumps and booties but I’m missing a loafer, a couple of flat boots and a high heel boot.
When shopping for shoes always have your color palette in mind. There is no point in buying purple shoes when all you wear is red. Keep in mind if you wear a lot of bold colors it is best that your shoe collection remain somber in tone. Try buying black, navy, gray, and metallic such as pewter and silver. Although very important I think some women have forgotten that shoes have a purpose and with each purpose comes a different shoes. If you wear 5inch stilettos to the office more power to you but you might need a pair of flats to walk to your car. If you have children chances are you run around a lot an easy flat boot that you can slip on and off will probably best suit you. For the single girl who goes out on lots of dates and wears a lot of dresses a great sandal is always essential. My favorites are not simply chosen based on design but necessity and lifestyle. Life has many obstacles and you should have a shoe for each one.
